Apology no. III: Abundance (2022)

Abundance features photographs, video, and mixed media installations centered on dead bumblebees collected from pavements and roadsides over three years. Many of these bees were struck by cars as they searched for flowers along roadsides, a reflection of the fragile coexistence between human activity and the natural world. The bees symbolise their kind, highlighting the (albeit declining) abundance of insects still found with little effort during a few summer months. The work serves as a reminder of loss, extinction is a collective tragedy, irreversible and a reflection of the impact our actions have on the world. Part of The Apologies Series, this project reflects on the impact of the climate crisis and the lasting consequences of inaction.
